When I enter a text character a box opens with the title "Editing text character". Please add the name and description of the character so that I know which character I am currently adding/editing. Same for DNA characters.

Character project title doesn't show

The name of my character project is "Lice characters", but instead on http://carnidae.taxon.name/character-project/1#overlay-context=character... it just says "Character editor" in the title and the breadcrumb. That is not very useful.

Taxon pages: Specimens don't show on map

Choosing the destination vocabulary for an import

I'm having a problem uploading content (using 'content' --> 'taxon description' --> 'import') I have more than one taxonomy tab, one for 'plants' and one for 'pollinators', and the problem is when I try to import it doesn't give me a choice as to which tab to import to. It appears to always just automatically import to the first of my tabs (currently 'plants').

Antweb image module

The goal of the Antweb images module is to dynamically harvest images from Antweb.com for matching taxa, and display them in a similar format. This is like the ‘EOL Images’ tab that already exists on the species pages.

1. EOL API for harvesting Antweb media (http://eol.org/api/docs/)

2. Display thumbnails in format similar to that used by Antweb.

3. Use same thumbnail dimensions.

4. Organize by specimen code (CASENT#.

5. Specimen code (CASENT#) should link to Antweb specimen page (i.e. CASENT0104523 links to http://www.antweb.org/specimen.do?name=casent0104523.

Character project: Images don't show properly

At http://carnidae.taxon.name/character-project/1#overlay-context= I have added an image to the "Head" group, but it doesn't show. The image for character 2 shows but the text is cut. I also added an image for each state of character 1, but only part of one image is visible. The size of the images probably needs to be reduced.

In the Dioscoreaceae scratchpad (dioscoreaceae.e-monocot.org) the taxon descriptions for all related ranks are appearing on the taxon description page for the genera under the 'descripion' tab. For example, the taxon page for the genus Dioscorea contains not just the description for that genus, but of all species within that genus, and the family description for the family Dioscoreaceae.

Classification import: Ajax error

The error page then has these entries...

"Missing bundle property on entity of type taxonomy_term."

The classification file for this import is attached, but I've tried many different files with the same result.

Unable to create character group

Easier character editing

Internet explorer: front page showing differently

I know we want people to use Firefox but I think at least the front page should show properly in Internet explorer. Currently the black bar at the bottom of the main image is not showing and the color of the search button is funny.

Image upload and tagging

I am having problems with the bulk image upload -

1. Erratic behaviour during upload - sometimes it uploads a set of images ok albeit slowly, other times only the first one appears in the matrix editor, although the others have been created (I can see them in the content menu).

2. Autotagging of images from file names during upload is no longer happening - can I enable this somewhere?

3. In the matrix editor the taxonomy appears as a very long picklist, which it is impractical to use, is it possible to change this to an autofill field?

The group content page at http://carnidae.taxon.name/group shows all content that is on the site and nothing group related except the title. There is one group on this site and this should be visible at the top of the facets, so that a user can select it to get to its content. If all content is shown by default then the title shouldn't be "Group content" but "All published content" or something like this.

Faceted browsing: better sorting

It doesn't look very good when the first items on a faceted browsing page are not available, e.g. http://d7-testing-2.scratchpads.eu/gallery. On one hand items that have keywords available should show up first. On the other hand it might be best to have a default order for certain content types. So for example for galleries, the different galleries should show first and for biblio it should be the author of the biblio. If we have default orders, then again if an item is empty it should come below items that have content, even if by default it would be higher in the list.

EOL images should not show in grid editor

EOL images show up in the image grid editor. While it would be good to be able to have an option to link EOL images to different taxonomic names, I don't think they should just turn up in the grid editor. They also show up in the library when selecting media. This could theoretically pose problems especially if the images are not properly referenced.

Character Project: Convert Lucid key export to character project

Main menu order

The order of the main menu can be fixed in the menu administration. However, if I edit a page, the respective menu item moves automatically into last position. This should not happen. The menu item should stay in the fixed place.

Add option to edit welcome title on front page

For some sites it looks funny to have the "Welcome to [Scratchpad title]" on the front page. Add the option to edit the "Welcome to" part, to that one can for example change it to "Welcome to the" or something else.

Seeing text in Taxon Description module

When I enter data into the fields within the Taxon Description module, I can only see what I type in the top field (e.g. general description in Overview, associations in Ecology & Distribution). It looks like the text goes in as I can see it after I save the module, but I can't see it to edit it.

Cache problems with login

Sometimes after I login it looks like I haven't logged in and I have to renew the window before I see that I am logged in. Together with all the other times that I get confused because my changes are not showing this is a real problem.

Glossary module

The goal of the glossary module is to provide users with an interactive list of terms used on-site for taxon identification. Perhaps it can be incorporated into the 'lexicon' module, but the features outlined below are more sophisticated, and more integrated into the character matrix. The glossary would consist of the following fields: term, description, media, taxa, rating, and comments.

1. Term. The name of the glossary term (text).

Diagnosis Tool

The goal of the diagnosis tool is to dynamically generate a list of all character states associated with a selected taxon. It is similar to the comparison chart (http://dev.scratchpads.eu/node/1016), and can be generated from the same character matrix.

1. Instead of comparing the similarities/differences among character states for multiple taxa, however, it lists ALL the character states for one single taxon, similar to a natural language output.

2. Allow associated media to be included/excluded.

3. Character states link to glossary terms.

4. Taxon names link to taxon pages.

Dynamic Comparison Charts

The goal of the comparison chart is to dynamically generate a table that can be used to compare the character states of the selected taxa. The concept for this feature is based on comparison charts that are generated for comparing different brands and models of consumer products (cars, laptops, phones, etc.). Ideally the comparison chart feature is built as a Scratchpads ‘character project’. See attachment for basic schematic.

Unpublished images showing in image gallery

Unpublished images are showing as thumbnails and in the lightbox view. I have fixed this on the Milichiidae and Diptera sites but the "Node: Published or admin" filter should be added to all sites.

Help text for forum/email integration

emonocot: Taxonomic notes field causing major problems in the slipper orchid site

I have discussed this bug at some length with Laurence.

Using the taxonomic notes field (which I believe is a particular field type that we requested for the emonocot project) results in various error messages.

E.g. Trying to edit C. wardii

I get an error message in a white ox (reading 'Error') when I try to preview or save changes to the taxonomic notes field.

Faulty link when enabling forums

When enabling forums on the tools admin page I get a note saying something like that I now need to enable roles to be able to post emails to the forum. The "enable roles" is a link to a page that is access denied. The link probably needs removing and the text might need more specific instructions.

Dashboard doesn't show recent content

Distribution map region select not always working

I have trouble selecting regions for distribution maps. For some countries I can select a country regardless of where I click within the country boundaries. Sometimes it only works if I click on the name of the country and sometimes it doesn't work at all. For example I currently can't select US states like South Dakota or the whole US either. If I play around too much the system tells me that a region (that I unselected) is already selected even though it is not marked as such. (http://carnidae.taxon.name/node/378)

Help text for new user shortcut set

When creating a new set of shortcuts for a user, e.g. http://carnidae.taxon.name/#overlay=user/10/shortcuts, there is an unlabeled field for which the help text reads "The new set is created by copying items from the Default set."
The label of this field should be "Title of new shortcut set" and the help text should be "Enter name of shortcut set."

WYSIWYG: add style and text size options

The option to use the WYSIWYG rich text editor for formatting styles (i.e. title, headings, normal, etc.)and to change text size (i.e. large, normal, small) might save users some time, rather than formatting in plain text mode.

Autotag in Biblio module
